Extinct fossil species which lived in the late Miocene. This specimen is the holotype of a newly described species (G. Mayr and D. Rubilar-Rogers, Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology 30(5):1313-1330, September 2010) Many thanks to Gerald Mayr from the Senckenberg Museum, Frankfurt, for allowing us to photograph this unique skull.
